BOSTON, March 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AMICAS, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMCS) , a leader in radiology and medical image and information management solutions, today announced that industry executive Peter McClennen has joined the company to become the company's president and chief operating officer, effective immediately.
Mr. McClennen is an industry veteran of nearly fifteen years, who most recently served as the global general manager for GE Healthcare's IT PACS business, a division of General Electric Company, with revenues of over $550 million and 1,200 employees worldwide. While at GE, revenues in his division more than doubled in less than three years while the company achieved top market leadership worldwide for PACS. Prior to GE, Mr. McClennen served as the director of marketing for PACS at FUJIFILM Medical Systems USA, Inc., helping establish and build their Web-based PACS business.
Stephen N. Kahane, M.D. will remain as CEO and vice chairman of the board of directors. Mr. McClennen will lead all operational aspects of AMICAS including sales, marketing, engineering, professional services, and customer support.

The next wave of growth in the imaging IT and PACS marketplace will come from the community hospitals and imaging centers.
