TSC Provides Project Planning, Configuration & Training Services for PeopleSoft(R) Internal Control Enforcer Project
CHICAGO, Feb. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Technology Solutions Company (TSC), a consulting company delivering business benefits through the application of information technology, has completed a PeopleSoft Internal Controls Enforcer implementation for QuadraMed, a leading healthcare information technology provider. The Internal Controls Enforcer enables QuadraMed to automate and enforce internal controls in order to comply with Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and to make the compliance process repeatable and auditable.
"The PeopleSoft Internal Controls Enforcer allows us to streamline the entire Section 404 process. We are now able to push down accountability to those business process owners responsible for monitoring and enforcing our internal controls," said Kevin Haggerty, senior director of internal audit at QuadraMed, a newly-listed public company. "Given the complexity of compliance requirements and the application knowledge required, QuadraMed turned to TSC to assist in planning, configuration, data analysis, and training for this implementation."
Using PeopleSoft's Internal Controls Enforcer, QuadraMed can more effectively manage the costs and resource requirements for ongoing compliance. This application immediately notifies QuadraMed's process owners when changes have been made to internal controls. The solution offers comprehensive document management capabilities to upload QuadraMed's business process information and streamline reporting. Additionally, built-in tools enable QuadraMed to determine the company's status in the certification process at a glance, as well as assess employee awareness of compliance and governance procedures.
The PeopleSoft application is just one of the tools TSC can implement for clients to assist them in monitoring and documenting ongoing compliance activities. Malcolm Schwartz, senior vice president, compliance consulting group at TSC, comments, "In our experience, built-in compliance is more effective than tacked-on compliance. Using software tools to automate and document internal controls presents an opportunity to make the process more efficient, repeatable and sustainable."
For QuadraMed, TSC provided key project management, technical and product expertise during the implementation. TSC documented QuadraMed's policy and procedures and identified business processes, risks, and controls. TSC also configured the Enforcer application and populated it with Sarbanes-Oxley data supporting QuadraMed's compliance program. TSC also provided training to process owners, utilizing both PeopleSoft's User Productivity Kit (UPK) and instructor-led training.
"Many of TSC's clients are focused on making compliance cycles more efficient and gaining better business benefits from compliance activities," said Ben Zimmerman, senior principal at TSC. "QuadraMed is an example of a company taking a proactive approach to long-term compliance, monitoring, and risk management."
"The expertise of TSC was critical to the project," said Haggerty. "Their understanding of the Enforcer application and its integration with our transactional systems helped ensure that we would meet our goals for on-going compliance."
